Design Verification, in simple terms, is product testing. Design Verification is defined as confirmation by examination and provision of objective evidence that specified requirements have been met. It is the process by which conformance to design specifications is confirmed and the question “did we design the device right?” is answered.
The level of activity during this stage is dictated by the requirements of the product. A high volume consumer product or a medical device requires extensive testing. At the other extreme, a proof of concept product may require little refinement but is used to demonstrate the product’s potential.
